Green Dooars

Dooars is a beautiful valley near the foothills of eastern Himalayas in close proximity to Bhutan. It is famous for its pleasant tea gardens, ethnic villages, dense sal forests, vibrant tea gardens, mountainous upland, endless sky and shining streams that run through vast meadows in the backdrop of Himalayan ranges.

The Green Dooars Package is a 5 day journey that starts from Sealdah. The first arrival is in Lataguri that is well renowned for forest safari and tribal dances. A trip to Murti river overwhelms you with a natural scenic sight like no other. The current is very strong but the water level is chest high with many travelers choosing to bathe in the river. One can even spot Indian bison and water buffalos between Chapramari forest and Gorumara National Park.

Jhalong and Bindu on the banks of the bank of Jaldhaka river is home to many wildlife animals and cinchona and ipecac plantation that is known for its therapeutic plants famous used to manufacture medicines. Bindu is famous for hydro power project and dam along with rich orange gardens.

The last destination of the journey is the Gorumara forest with a mixed vegetation of forest and grassland. One horned rhinos, leopard and elephants can all be seen on safari along with birds like Indian hornbill, scarlet minivet, sunbird, paradise flycatchers, spangled drongo and woodpeckers.
