General Trek FAQs

  • Open the IRCTC Tourism website in your browser: https://www.irctctourism.com
  • Select the "Adventure Travel" option from the main menu.
  • Browse and choose your trek using one of the following filters:
    • Trek by Name
    • Trek by Season
    • Trek by Month
  • Select your preferred date slot under the "Book a Slot" option.
  • Enter the required details, including personal information.
    • Add additional passengers if needed.
  • Proceed to payment and complete the booking.
  • After successful payment:
    • A confirmation page will appear.
    • You can download or print the booking voucher from this page.
  • You will receive a Trek Confirmation Email from both IRCTC and Trek The Himalayas (TTH).
  • A Trek Confirmation SMS will also be sent to your registered mobile number by IRCTC.

To book a trek with us, no documents are required upfront—you can easily make your booking without submitting any documents.

However, at the time of the trek, you will need to carry the following documents with you:

  1. Valid Government-issued Photo ID Proof:
    (Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving License) — this is mandatory for verification and permit purposes.
  2. Trek Permit (if applicable):
    • For certain restricted areas or special treks, a permit may be required. We assist you in obtaining these permits.
  3. Medical Certificate (if applicable):
    • Some high-altitude or challenging treks may require you to carry a medical fitness certificate.

Please make sure to carry original documents and valid IDs during the trek for a smooth and hassle-free experience.

Trekking can range from easy to very challenging, so it's important to assess your fitness before you book:

  1. Physical Fitness:
    • You should have a reasonable level of physical fitness. Regular walking, jogging, or other cardio activities will help prepare you.
    • For moderate to difficult treks, you should be comfortable walking several hours a day on uneven terrain and at higher altitudes.
  2. Health Conditions:
    • If you have any medical conditions such as heart issues, asthma, or joint problems, please consult your doctor before booking.
    • Pregnant women and people with serious health concerns should avoid strenuous treks.
  3. Mental Readiness:
    • Trekking requires patience, a positive attitude, and the ability to adapt to changing weather and living conditions.
  4. Trek Difficulty Info:
    • We provide detailed difficulty levels and itinerary info for each trek. Please review these carefully and choose a trek that matches your fitness and experience level.

Yes, you can cancel directly via My Account section on IRCTC Tourism website. Cancellations are allowed as per the cancellation policy.

Yes, partial cancellation is allowed, you can do cancellation from My Account section on IRCTC Tourism website.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations prior to 25 days from the start of the Trip5% deduction of trek fee
Cancellation between 24 days and 15 days to the start of the Trip30% deduction of trek fee
Cancellation between 14 days and 10 days to the start of the Trip50% deduction of trek fee
Cancellation less than 9 days to the start of the trekNo refund
  • Visit the IRCTC Tourism website.
  • Log in to your account using the credentials with which you made the booking (IRCTC ID or Guest Login).
  • Navigate to the "Trek" section.
  • You will see a list of your booked treks. Select the trek you wish to cancel.
  • Click on the 'Cancel' (X) option next to the selected trek.
  • Choose the passengers for whom you want to cancel the booking.
  • Click on "Cancel" to proceed.
  • A confirmation popup will appear showing the applicable cancellation charges and the refund amount.
  • Confirm the cancellation by clicking "Cancel" again.
  • You will receive a Trek Cancellation Email from both IRCTC and Trek The Himalayas.
  • A Trek Cancellation SMS will also be sent to your registered mobile number by IRCTC.

In case of cancellation by TTH (due to weather, low participation, or natural disaster), contact the coordinator for an alternative trek/date, or the applicable refund.

No, trek packages do not include railway or flight tickets.

No, you cannot change the details after booking.

Yes, each trek is led by certified and experienced trek leaders provided by Trek the Himalayas.

Every treks have a minimum age requirement depending on the difficulty, you will be able to see in the Participation Policy section.

Each trek includes specific facilities such as accommodation, meals, guides (as per itinerary), and equipment (for camping treks). The exact inclusions vary depending on the trek package.
